Dozens In Yardley Without Power After Storms

Monday evening, Main Street was closed due to downed trees and power was out to downtown Yardley and elsewhere.

YARDLEY, PA — Dozens of Yardley residents remained without power Tuesday morning after strong thunderstorms rolled through the area.

Major roadways in Yardley were shut down Monday evening and power to many residents was knocked out by heavy thunderstorms that rolled through the area.

Downed trees in Yardley caused closures on South Main Street at Wells Fargo Bank, River Road by Black Rock Road and Dolington Road at Raab Drive, according to Yardley Police.

Power was knocked out to downtown and the traffic light at Afton Avenue and Main Street was being powered by a generator, police said.

Borough and PECO crews worked through the night to address the situation and, by Tuesday morning, power had been restored to most of Yardley. But, according to PECO's outage map, there were still dozens of residents in and around Yardley waiting for power to be restored as of about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
