Kids Kingdom Playground Celebrates 30 Years In Lower Makefield

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Kids Kingdom Playground is getting spruced up.

On Wednesday, the township planted 12 flowering trees, six red maples and six yellowwood at the playground on 1100 Edgewood Road. It's part of the township's long-range tree planting plan.

In the last few years, the township has planted nearly 1,000 trees & shrubs using tree bank funds provided by developers for planting replacement trees, the township posted on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Kids Kingdom turned 30 years old this month.

"A special thanks to the hundreds of individuals, businesses and organizations whose donations of time, labor and materials helped to build a playground our community will cherish for years to come," a dedication plaque there reads.

While the playground gets some beautification, other areas are getting work done as well.

Schuyler Tennis courts are officially under construction, the township said.

After 40-plus years of great memories, Schuyler courts needed some attention, township officials said.

Township supervisors recently approved funding to fully repair the courts and to make drainage and parking improvements on this site, part of the township's ADA transition plan.
