PECO Natural Gasline Project Starts Monday In Lower Makefield
PECO said the work is expected to begin in mid-May along Lindenhurst Road near Newtown Township.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — PECO has scheduled a major multi-million-dollar natural gas line installation project along Lindenhurst Road, which forms the boundary between the township and neighboring Newtown.
PECO Energy will be performing utility construction on two highways in Bucks County beginning next week as part of its natural gas pipeline installation project.
Beginning Monday and continuing for the next five months, work crews will be installing nearly 9,000 feet of steel natural gas main along the roadway as part of a project to upgrade its natural gas distribution system for customers in Lower Makefield, Newtown Township, and Bucks County.

PECO said construction will begin at the Newtown Bypass and will require lane closures or a detour for the entirety of the project.
PennDOT has advised of the following travel restrictions:

- Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 31, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weeknight lane closures are scheduled on Route 332 at Lindenhurst Road.
- Monday, May 20, through Monday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday closure is scheduled on Lindenhurst Road between Route 332 & Route 532.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 332 (Newtown Bypass), Durham Road, and Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road). Local access will be maintained up to the work zone.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
PECO Energy will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
PECO said the improvement is part of its investment of approximately $9.3 billion over the next five years across its natural gas and electric systems to complete targeted system enhancements and corrective maintenance, invest in new equipment, inspect equipment and perform necessary tree trimming and other vegetation management.
