LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Starting Monday, SEPTA's West Trenton Line is going to be under construction.

SEPTA has announced a West Trenton Line Infrastructure Improvement Project that is expected to last two weeks.

SEPTA crews will be working on the West Trenton Line between Woodbourne Station and West Trenton Station, removing overhead catenary (power) wire from the track it formerly shared with CSX.

Crews will be working at various locations in Middletown Township, Lower Makefield Township, Yardley Borough, and Ewing Township (N.J.) throughout the two-week period.

The work will be performed from the SEPTA track right-of-way from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, SEPTA officials said.

Motorists near those areas should expect some delays.

At various times, work through the grade crossings will cause brief, intermittent closures of Township Line, Heacock Road, Stoney Hill Road, and Edgewood Road.

Any closures are being planned as much as possible to occur after 9 a.m. to avoid rush hour, and SEPTA is working with local police to have personnel at crossing locations to direct traffic during those times.

The work will use the wire train, which is powered by a diesel locomotive. A diesel locomotive is louder than our typical electric trains.

When the train is not in operation, it will be stored on an industrial track in the West Trenton yard.

During the work, trains passing the wire train may sound their horns to alert track crews in the quiet zone. This is allowed under the Quiet Zone rule as train horns are important in notifying track workers of passing trains, SEPTA said.

The West Trenton Line has stops at the West Trenton Station, Yardley Station, Woodbourne Station, Langhorne Station, Neshaminy Falls Station, and Trevose Station in Lower Bucks County.
