Speed Devices Coming To Breece Drive In Yardley

The downtown roadway was paved in September and council members were worried about increased speeding there.

YARDLEY, PA — Traffic on Breece Drive, which connects Afton and College avenues in Yardley, should soon start getting a little calmer.

The borough plans to install "traffic tables" at two spots on the roadway this week. The installation was due to be done on Thursday and Friday, though borough officials said rainy weather in the forecast may delay that.

Breece Drive was paved in September and, as such, borough officials worried that speeding may increase on the downtown roadway. Councilwoman Sandi Brady spoke with residents and proposed the idea of installing traffic calming devices there to borough council.

Speed tables are longer than speed humps, have flat tops and are typically not as tall as speed humps. Borough Manager Paula Johnson told Patch that council considered the tables more "friendly" to emergency vehicles, including snow plows, and everyday traffic than typical speed humps.
