Stony Hill Road Section Closure Starts Monday
PennDOT is replacing the Stony Hill Road culvert in Lower Makefield Township. Work begins on Monday and will last for four months.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Stony Hill Road Culvert is being replaced. And with it, a stretch of the roadway will be closed for four months, PennDOT said.
Starting May 15, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will start work on replacing the culvert over Brock Creek. The project is one of four culvert replacements in Bucks County, PennDOT said.
Built in 1926, the Stony Hill Road culvert carries an average of 8,055 vehicles a day, PennDOT said.

Stony Hill Road will be closed between Oxford Valley Road and Judith Place. PennDOT said the road closure will last into September.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

- Monday, May 15, through mid-September, Stony Hill Road will be closed and detoured between Judith Place and Oxford Valley Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Heacock Road/Oxford Valley Road and Big Oak Road.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. The schedule is weather dependent.
PennDOT said the other culvert replacement projects in Bucks County are:
- Aquetong Road over a Branch of Aquetong Creek in Solebury Township
- Deerwood Lane over Kimples Creek in Haycock Township
- Cherry Road over Branch of Tohickon Creek in Richland Township
C. Abbonizio Contractors, Inc. of Sewell, N.J., is the general contractor for the $3.8 million culvert replacement project financed with 100 percent state funds.
