Taylorsville Road Closing For Emergency Pipe Replacement

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Taylorsville Road will be closed for six hours each day Thursday and Friday for emergency pipe replacement necessary from flash flooding last month.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that motorists should find alternative routes during the pipe replacement work in Lower and Upper Makefield Townships.

During the closure, motorists are directed to use Woodside Road, Route 32 (River Road), and Route 532 (George Washington Memorial Boulevard).

Taylorsville Road was one of the main roads impacted by a fast-moving July 15 that dumped six inches of rain on the township, causing flash flooding that damaged homes and claimed the lives of six people in nearby Upper Makefield Township.

Residents have expressed frustration that repairs are taking too long and continued to do so at the flood update meeting township officials held last week.

Township officials are also seeking long-term solutions with state agencies to prevent further flooding on Taylorsville Road.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zones. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
