Traffic Crashes Down In Yardley

The number of crashes in Yardley this year between January and July was the lowest in five years.

YARDLEY, PA — Traffic collisions in Yardley this year are down compared to the past few years and police are thanking drivers for helping the cause.

According to data released Monday, there were 51 motor-vehicle accidents in Yardley from January-July 2019. That's down from a high of 78 last year. There were 63 crashes in that time period in 2015, 67 in 2016 and 71 in 2017.

In a social media post, Yardley Borough Police said only seven of this year's crashes were bad enough to require a vehicle to be towed from the scene. Police were crediting careful drivers for this year's number.

"We thank all of the vehicle operators that have put the phones down, increased following distances and have made Yardley Boro safer for vehicles and pedestrians alike," police said in the post. "For all others, be forewarned, YBPD officers remain committed to traffic safety through the enforcement of (motor vehicle) laws."
