Train Derailment Caused Significant Road Damage In Morrisville: PD

Morrisville Police Chief Rich Ciampa said the Conrail tanker cars were carrying corn syrup when they derailed on Friday morning.

MORRISVILLE BOROUGH, PA — Multiple Conrail railcars derailed after a section of railroad track reportedly broke near the crossing in the area of South Delmorr Avenue near Green Street, the borough police chief said.

The Morrisville Borough Police Department responded to the area of the Conrail train derailment at 1 a.m. on Friday.

Police Chief Rich Ciampa said the tanker cars were carrying corn syrup.

He said that there were no reported injuries.

Police officers did not observe any leaks, spills, or other releases from the railcars, the police chief said.

Ciampa said the derailment caused significant damage to the roadway and railroad infrastructure.

He said that Conrail personnel are working to assess the damage and coordinate the equipment and resources necessary to reposition the affected railcars.

Ciampa said that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
