10-Year-Old Rhode Island Child Nearly Died From Maltreatment: DCYF

A 10-year-old child nearly died due to maltreatment, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families revealed.

The near fatality of the 10-year-old occurred May 11 and the Rhode Office of the Child Advocate was notified, DCYF said in a media release.

"A determination has been made that the near fatality resulted from maltreatment," the release said.

The child and the family were not involved with the DCYF at the time of this incident, according to the release.
