10-Year-Old Rhode Island Child Nearly Died From Maltreatment: DCYF

The child and family were not involved with the department at the time of this incident, according to DCYF.

A 10-year-old child nearly died due to maltreatment, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families revealed.

The near fatality of the 10-year-old occurred May 11 and the Rhode Office of the Child Advocate was notified, DCYF said in a media release.

"A determination has been made that the near fatality resulted from maltreatment," the release said.
