20 RI Ponds, Rivers, Lakes Getting New Trout For Fishing Season

See what freshwater bodies in Rhode Island are getting stocked with trout, so you can take the family fishing.

RHODE ISLAND — Fishing season in Rhode Island is off the hook, so far it seems

A month after the Department of Environmental Management stocked more than 40 state ponds and lakes with thousands of trout, state officials are adding fish to more than 20 more freshwater bodies.

The following ponds, rivers and lakes were stocked:

  • Barber Pond, South Kingstown
  • Breakheart Pond, Exeter/West Greenwicho Browning Mill Pond, Exeter
  • Carbuncle Pond, Coventry
  • Eight Rod Farm Pond, Tiverton
  • Meadowbrook Pond, Richmond
  • Upper Melville Pond, Portsmouth
  • Mooseup River, Coventry
  • Olney Pond, Lincoln Woods State Park, Lincoln
  • Pawcatuck River, Bradford/Hopkinton/Westerly; Burdickville Access, Hopkinton/Charlestown; Lower Shannock Access, Charlestown, Richmond Landing, Westerly; Bradford, Westerly

An updated fishing license is required for all anglers 15 and older. DEM officials also said a trout conservation stamp is required for anyone wishing to keep a trout or to fish in a catch-and-release or "fly-fishing only" area. More fishing rules and regulations can be found here.

Fishing licenses can be purchased online through DEM's portal.
