AJ McCarron To Coach New Rhode Island Pro Football Team

PAWTUCKET, RI — Former NFL quarterback AJ McCarron will coach the Rhode Island United Football League team in its inaugural season.

"Coinciding with the coaching assignments, the UFL will carry forward established player rosters from the 2026 season into the 2027 markets, with the 2026 Birmingham Stallions roster moving with Head Coach McCarron to Rhode Island," the UFL said in a media release.

"McCarron enters his second season as a UFL head coach after leading the Birmingham Stallions in 2026," the release said. "A three-time national champion at the University of Alabama, McCarron went on to an eight-year NFL career before becoming one of the UFL’s most accomplished quarterbacks with the St. Louis Battlehawks."

The Stallions finished 4-6 last season.

The former Stallions will play at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket this upcoming season.

The April 2 home opener will air nationally on Fox as part of Fox UFL Friday.

"The Rhode Island team name, colors, logo and brand identity will be unveiled during a public event at Centreville Bank Stadium on October 18 with season ticket deposits available for fans at the event," according to a media release.
