Providence Man Charged With Failing To Register As A Sex Offender: Cops

The Providence man was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was charged with failing to register as a sex offender, police said.

Elton McGee, 55, was arrested about 6 a.m. Friday by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, the state police said in a media release.

McGee was arrested on a warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender and failure of a shelter to notify law enforcement, according to the release.

"The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Violent Fugitive Task Force," the release said. "Mr. McGee was taken into custody without incident and turned over to members of the Cranston Police Department on scene."
