A heat wave will wash over Rhode Island Tuesday morning.
The Ocean State is under a heat advisory starting at 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
"Heat index values (of) up to 103 expected," the National Weather Service advisory said.
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," the National Weather Service warned, recommending that residents, "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors."
The heat advisory is to remain in effect 8 p.m. Wednesday.
