Chick-Fil-A Accounts Targeted By Hackers: What RI Customers Should Know

Chick-fil-A customers in Rhode Island may have had their personal data compromised after the company was targeted by a cyberattack in June.

Fast food giant Chick-fil-A is warning Rhode Island residents with customer loyalty accounts to be on alert after the company said their personal data may have been compromised in a recent hack.

In a notice sent to customers this week, the company said that hackers "launched an automated attack" between June 17 and June 19 against the website and mobile portals of the Chick-fil-A One rewards program.

Customers who may have been impacted were also located in Iowa, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, D.C.

What Was Exposed?

"Based on our investigation, we determined on July 13, 2026, that the unauthorized parties may have accessed information in your Chick-fil-A One account," reads the advisory.

"This information may have included your name, email address, Chick-fil-A One membership number and mobile pay number, QR code, last four digits of your credit/debit card number, and the amount of Chick-fil-A credit (e.g., e-gift card balance) on your account (if any)."

Additional information such as birthdays, phone numbers and addresses may have been accessed if it was saved on rewards accounts.

How Has Chick-Fil-A Responded?

Upon discovering the hack, the "Eat Mor Chikin" brand said it undertook mass "log-outs" of all the impacted accounts, reset all passwords and removed all information regarding stored payment methods.

The company is now urging customers to reset their passwords with strong credentials and to avoid recycling passcodes from other accounts.

After restoring the accounts, Chick-fil-A also restored account balances and took an extra step by adding rewards to loyalty customers.

"Chick-fil-A continues to enhance its security, monitoring, and fraud controls as appropriate to minimize the risk of any similar incident in the future," reads the notice.

Rhode Islanders are specifically being directed to the website of the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General to obtain additional information regarding the prevention of identity theft. Residents can also get in touch with state officials by calling 401-274-4400.
