Rhode Island Reaffirms Childhood Immunization Schedule: State

Rhode Island children, families, child care facilities, and schools should continue to follow the state's Childhood Immunization Schedule, Gov. Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Department of Health announced.

"Rhode Island's vaccination requirements for children entering childcare and schools have not changed," according to a media release from the department of health.

"Rhode Island's vaccination schedule is not affected by an Executive Order signed by the President (Aug. 10) that calls for reducing the number of vaccines received by children and changing when vaccines are received," the release said. "There is no new evidence to justify the changes in this Executive Order."

In the release, McKee said immunization "recommendations should be based on science, not ideology."

"No matter what is happening at the federal level, we will continue to ensure that Rhode Islanders have access to vaccines and fact-based vaccination information to help keep themselves and their families safe," McKee said. "Vaccines work. They help make communities healthier, and they help keep kids in the classroom learning."
