The Rhode Island Foundation is giving $290,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations serving Newport County residents.
"The funding will support work ranging from educational programs for children and housing to food pantries and arts activities," according to a media release.
"We are honored to be able to help our community partners carry out their vital work," David N. Cicilline, the Rhode Island Foundation's president and CEO, said in the release.
"We are grateful to the donors who make it possible for us to support organizations that are well-positioned to respond every day to needs of Newport County residents," Cicilline said.
