Rhode Island's workplace fatality rate is the lowest in America, a recent study revealed.
The researchers at TRADESAFE, "a provider of industrial safety and compliance products," examined 2024 Bureau of Labor Statistics fatality rates, the most recent data available, "alongside 2022 U.S. Economic Census data on state capital expenditures for industrial robotic equipment," according to a media release.
"Rhode Island recorded just six fatal occupational injuries in 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics," the release said. "Five of those fatalities occurred in private industry, while three involved workers in construction and extraction occupations."
Rhode Island recorded 1.1 fatal occupational injuries per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers. The national average was 3.3.
New Hampshire and New Jersey had the second and third lowest rates for workplace fatalities.
The states with the highest rates were Wyoming, Mississippi and Alaska.
