Professional Football Coming To Rhode Island

The United Football League announced Wednesday it is moving into Rhode Island.

"The UFL will bring professional spring football to Pawtucket beginning with the 2027 season, entering a market with a deep history of professional sports and an established connection between teams and their communities," the league said in a media release.

"The location also provides the UFL an opportunity to connect with fans throughout Rhode Island and across the broader New England region," the release said. "The team will play at Centreville Bank Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Pawtucket on the banks of the Seekonk River."

The UFL previously announced that it's Birmingham and Houston teams were no longer part of the league.

Along with Rhode Island, the UFL said it was moving into Colorado in 2027 and expansion teams will be located in Utah Oklahoma, bringing the league to 10 teams.

"The Rhode Island team name, colors, logo and brand identity will be unveiled during a public event at Centreville Bank Stadium on October 18 with season ticket deposits available for fans at the event," the release said.
