Rhode Island ranks No. 1 in the country when it comes to searching online for serial killers, a recent study revealed.
While Ocean State residents had the most searches in relation to population, the state with the highest number of searches overall was California, according to the study conducted by VIP-Grinders Prediction Markets Report, a monthly research publication that tracks the growth, trading activity and financial performance of online prediction markets, where participants trade contracts based on the outcomes of future events, including elections, sporting events, cryptocurrency prices and economic developments.
"With Halloween around the corner, the iGaming experts behind the monthly VIP-Grinders Prediction Markets Report, tested the market against Google search data. They analyzed how much Americans search for 16 notorious killers, nationally and state by state, to see how big the appetite is and which story Monster could tell next," according to a media release.
Despite its top spot in total searches, California came in a lowly 44th when its population was taken into account.
Rhode Island mirrored the national trend for top-searched serial killers with Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy as the most commonly googled.
