Cumberland Woman Dies In House Fire

Fire officials said crews extinguished the flames quickly, but the woman already died from her injuries by the time firefighters got inside.

CUMBERLAND, RI — A woman died in a house fire in Cumberland Wednesday morning, according to Fire Chief Nicholas Anderson.

Around 10:36 p.m., police were called to a home on Ryan Avenue with a 65-year-old woman trapped inside.

Fire officials said crews extinguished the flames quickly, but the woman had already died from her injuries by the time firefighters were able to get inside. Emergency officials did not release the woman's identity.
