PAWTUCKET, RI — The ELISHA project is giving away nearly 100,000 pounds of potatoes.

The giveaway is from 3-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Apex building on Main Street, said ELISHA project founder Executive Director George Ortiz.

The potatoes will not be given to individuals but to organizations, he said.

"Any nonprofit, any food pantry, mom-and-pop restaurants," Ortiz said. "There's a lot of mm-and-pop restaurants struggling."
