Former Burrillville Teacher Charged With Chid Molestation

Michael Langelier, a former substitute teacher​ at Austin T. Levy School in Harrisville, is facing child molestation charges.

BURRILLVILLE, RI — A former substitute teacher in Burrillville was charged with second-degree child molestation, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office.

Michael Langelier, 56, of North Smithfield, on Thursday pleaded not guilty in Providence Superior Court to five felony counts of engaging in sexual contact with a person 1 years of age or under.

Prosecutors said the molestation occurred in Burrillville between September 2011 and July 2012. Langelier was a substitute teacher during that time at Austin T. Levy School, Superintendent Michael Sollitto told WPRI 12.

"There were no reports of inappropriate conduct during his time as a substitute teacher here," Sollitto told the television station, also saying Langelier hasn't taught in the district since 2014.

Langelier was released on $10,000 surety bail and will return to court in two weeks.
