Gov. McKee Nominates Farouk Rajab For RI Convention Center Authority Board

Rajab's name has been submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Gov. Dan McKee nominated Farouk Rajab for the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority’s Board of Directors.

The 11-member board operates the Rhode Island Convention & Entertainment Complex, which includes the Rhode Island Convention Center, the Amica Mutual Pavilion, and the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, according to a media release.

“Farouk is a leading figure in Rhode Island’s hospitality and tourism industry, and his experience will be an asset to the board,” McKee said in the release.

“As Rhode Island strengthens its national and international profile, his vision will help the Convention Center attract major events, concerts, sports, and entertainment to our state,” McKee said

"Rajab is a seasoned hospitality professional with more than 30 years of experience managing hotels and hospitality associations," the release said. "He currently serves as President/CEO of the Rhode Island Hospitality Association, where he leads the organization’s strategic vision, champions workforce development, and fosters industry partnerships that support the growth and long-term success of the state's hospitality sector."
