National Weather Service Warns Of Rhode Island Rip Current Risk

Rhode Island was placed under a rip current risk by the National Weather Service.

"Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," the National Weather Service cautioned.

The rip current risk warning is to remain in effect through Tuesday evening.

"Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current," the National Weather Service advised. "If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."

A mostly sunny Tuesday will turn partly cloudy Tuesday night as the low temperature drops to 62 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
