Lifestyle website TheKitchn listed the oldest bar in every state. Rhode Island's may be the oldest in nation.

NEWPORT, RI — Lifestyle website the kitchn listed the oldest bar in every state and Rhode Island's might be the oldest in America.

"White Horse Tavern was established in 1673 and is located in Newport," according to the kitchn's list.

"It claims to be the 'oldest operating restaurant in the U.S.' and the 10th oldest in the world," the ktchn says. "It’s also listed as a National Historic Landmark. The architecture of the building is very quintessential New England style, and it was often used as a meeting place for general assembly, criminal court, and city council.

Is the White Horse Tavern the oldest in America? The website Beer Info says so.

Beer Info puts the White Horse Tavern at eight years older than second place finisher the Broad Axe Tavern in Ambler, Pennsylvania and 47 years ahead of No. 3, the Barnsboro Inn in Sewell, New Jersey.
