Rhode Island Ranked Among The Least Nerdiest States In The Nation: Study
Rhode Island was near the bottom in the recent study of "nerd capitals," a recent study revealed.
Rhode Island is one of the least nerdy states in America, a recent study revealed.
Researchers at the public relations firm PR Superstar "analyzed all 50 states using three measures of nerd culture: comic book conventions per 100,000 residents, comic book stores per 100,000 residents and the percentage of museums dedicated to science," according to a media release.
"Comic book fandom, science museums and fan conventions are often associated with America’s biggest cities, but a new ranking suggests the country’s strongest nerd cultures can be found in some unexpected places," the release said.

The top state for nerd culture was North Carolina.
"North Carolina took first place largely because it has 17.24 comic book stores per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the country," the release said. "It also placed fifth for its share of science museums, with science-focused institutions accounting for 40% of the museums analyzed in the state."
North Carolina was followed by Pennsylvania and South Dakota.
