RI Man Caught With Child Pornography: Feds

Patrick K. Newton, 26, was charged with distribution of child pornography and possession and access with intent to view child pornography.

CUMBERLAND, RI — A Cumberland man was charged in federal court Wednesday with child pornography charges.

Patrick K. Newton, 26, was charged with distribution of child pornography and possession and access with intent to view child pornography.

In January 2022, Homeland Security investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to court documents, the tip was about someone downloading and sharing child pornography.

Prosecutors said investigators found an email and IP address belonging to Newton. On Wednesday, Homeland Security and Rhode Island State Police said they searched Newton's home and seized several computers, cell phones and digital storage devices. They will be analyzed by federal investigators.
