RI Man Caught Shooting At Car On His Own Security Camera: Police

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — Police arrested a North Providence man they said was caught shooting at a car on his own home security system.

Jesse Lataille, 34, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony assault and gun charges.

Police said they were called to the area of Verdi and McKinley streets for a report of shots fired. Then, while officers were on scene, another person called dispatch, saying their vehicle was shot at.

"Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, and subsequently observed the homeowner(Lataille) on his own home security system firing several gunshots from his driveway at a fleeing vehicle," police said in a statement.

Police said Lataille confessed to shooting at the car and said he did so to stop the driver from ramming into his neighbor's SUV. Police said there are pending charges for the victim of the shooting for property damage.

No one was injured during this shooting, and police said the incident was an isolated act. Everyone involved knew each other, according to police.
