RI Weather: Heat Advisory For Coventry, Providence, More

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Smithfield, Providence, Coventry,West Greenwich, East Greenwich, Warwick, and more.

Be ready for another hot one today. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Foster, Smithfield, Providence, Coventry,West Greenwich, East Greenwich, Warwick, West Warwick,Narragansett, and Westerly.

Although it's not as hot as yesterday with temperatures in the Providence area around 86 degrees, humidity is still a factor. Heat indices are in the lower to mid 90s for most of the state.

Please remember to stay cool, hydrated, wear light clothing, and follow all these other tips from the Rhode Island Health Department. Cooling shelters will also be open throughout the state for those without air conditioning.

Besides the heat, be ready for the rain as well. There's a 40 percent chance of precipitation with thunderstorms also in the forecast for the Providence area.

Temperatures are expected to cool down for the rest of the weekend with a high of 76 degrees Friday, 80 degrees Saturday and 83 degrees Sunday. On Labor Day, it's supposed to get hot again with temperatures rising to 89 degrees. Stay safe as you enjoy your Labor Day festivities.
