Thunderstorms In RI Could Bring Flooding, Hail, Damaging Winds

RHODE ISLAND — The nice weather that's had it feeling like summer is going away for a little while, with thunderstorms expected to roll through Rhode Island on Monday afternoon.

And with that thunderstorm, we got a few nasty possibilities. Hail, coastal flooding and damaging winds could all be in the forecast, according to AccuWeather.

A coastal flood advisory will be starting around 9 p.m. Monday night for Rhode Island residents who live near the water. High astronomical tides may result in less than one foot of flooding above ground level, mainly in the most vulnerable low-lying areas, according to an alert from AccuWeather.

It will start to feel cooler as the storms roll on Monday afternoon, but expect comfortable temperatures in the 70s for the rest of the week.

Monday will start off nice, with a high of 78 before thunderstorms in the afternoon bring in some potentially damaging gusts and hail and bring temperatures down to a low of 60. A coastal flood warning is in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. and chance of precipitation is 55 percent.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, and a little windy with a high near 76. By Tuesday night it will be mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 72, but wind gusts of 25 mph. By Wednesday night it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 50. Winds will be mostly died down.

Thursday

Thursday will be partly cloudy, with a high near 74, but there will be a 64 percent chance of showers. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 54.

Friday

Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Friday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 62.

Saturday

Get ready for some heat again, as this Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 85. At night, expect a partly cloudy sky, with a low around 62.
