RI Man Charged With Child Molestation, Sexual Assault

The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office accused Russel Trafford, 54, of sexually assaulting a girl under 14 on numerous occasions.

WEST WARWICK, RI — A West Warwick man was indicted by a Providence County Grand Jury last week on child molestation and sexual assault charges.

The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office accused Russel Trafford, 54, of sexually assaulting a girl under 14 on numerous occasions. Prosecutors said the assaults happened between August 2000 and January 2004 in Providence.

In February 2022, Rhode Island State Police began investigating allegations against Trafford, that the FBI shared. Trafford was arrested on April 24 and is scheduled to return to court Thursday.

Trafford was charged with two counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of first-degree sexual assault.
