Barrington 5th Graders Post Big Win; Well Positioned for Championship Run

The Barrington 5th grade boys kept their regular season championship hopes alive as they defeated division leading Attleboro last Sunday 38-32. Ā The win improves the Eagles to 10-7 and 7-3 in league play, while the Blue Bombardiers fell to 8-2. Ā Both teams headed into the contest undefeated against their South Division 2 rivals. Ā The home team outscored the visitors 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 21-13 led into the break. Ā Attleboro was able to cut the deficit to 28-23 heading into the 4th quarter and closed the gap to 30-26, before a runner by Michael Raffa extended the lead to six. Ā Barrington thwarted each Attleboro run by executing against full court pressure and attacked to score, as Connor Sullivan made two lay-ups and Mark Bernardo one. Ā Cole Reed and Sullivan led the way for the Eagles by scoring 9 points apiece. Ā Bernardo added 6 points, while Raffa, Cole Glazzard and Bennett Durkin each chipped in with four. Ā Quinn Gaffney rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Ā Barrington, which has now won 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7 games, trails both Attleboro and North Attleboro by one game heading into its season finale against Foxboro (5-5).
