Barrington Books Retold Grand Opening Celebration

An independent book-toy-gift store opens in Garden City Center, Cranston. A public day of celebration planned for this weekend.

Barrington Books, which has been a popular shopping destination in Barrington for the last 28 years, will be celebrating the opening of their second location, Barrington Books Retold this Saturday the 21st with a full day of family-friendly events. The 5,000-square-foot store is located near LA Fitness.

The Grand Opening Celebration promises to be a family-friendly day of activities, entertainment, exciting product previews and so much more. Store hours on Saturday are 9am to 9pm, kicking off the festivities at 10:30am with a special Story Hour in the children's area. Mayor Allan Fung will be on-hand for an official ribbon cutting at 12:00pm, followed by balloon artistry courtesy of the great Bjorn the Magician until 2pm. Live music and trunk shows are planned for the rest of the afternoon of celebration.

“Barrington Books has evolved into a shopping destination on the East Bay, and we are excited to duplicate the indie bookstore experience that we have long been known for at Garden City Center,” said Jennifer Massotti, general manager of Barrington Books. “After a long period of diligence to find the right home for our second location, we believe Garden City Center, with its goal of offering the very best shopping experience around combined with its long history as part of Rhode Island’s retail landscape, is the perfect fit for us.”

When Barrington Books Retold opened its doors, it was the first bookseller at Garden City Center since 2011.

“Our shoppers have been clamoring for a bookstore for years and the addition of Barrington Books Retold both meets consumer demand and provides yet another unique reason for shoppers to visit Garden City Center,” said Deb DiMeo, vice president of leasing for The Wilder Companies, the management company for Garden City Center.
