Barrington Man, 22, Charged With 'Skinny-Dipping' in Gazebo Pond

The man is believed to have been 'high' on alcohol and drugs when he took a swim in Wood's Pond early Wednesday evening, Aug. 28.

A young Barrington man who apparently “skinny-dipped” in Woods Pond next to the Barrington Government Center early last Wednesday evening, Aug. 28, faces a disorderly conduct charge.

Daniel McMillian, 22, of 2 Palmer St., was found by Barrington patrol officers sitting on a nearby bench off of County Road and Markwood Drive wearing only a T-shirt.

His pants were hanging nearby and his extremities were definitely exposed, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. Officers ordered him to cover up and he complied.

McMillian told officers that he went for a swim because the New Testament Bible he was carrying told him so. He is alleged to have been high on beer and “Angel dust,” the police chief said.

The young man was taken to the detoxification unit at Rhode Island Hospital. He received a summons for his nude swim in the pond, which is a misdemeanor and subject only to a fine under a new town ordinance, LaCross said. If he pays the fine, he will not have to appear in Municipal Court.
