Barrington Man Arrested: Found Sleeping in a Van at a Thrift Shop

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Police arrested Christopher L. Danforth, 62, of Barrington, at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday. His blue Ford van was spotted parked on West Main Road at the Any and Everything Thrift Shop. Police said Danforth had recently been part of a suspicious person investigation. They approached and recognized him sleeping inside. Police said he would not respond when officers knocked at the window, except to tell them to go away.

The business owner was contacted. He called Rhode Island Towing and filled out a no-trespass form.

Danforth was advised but did not leave the van. Ultimately, police broke a window, unlocked the door and removed him. He was charged with willful trespass.
