Girls' X-Country Team Takes Title
The Barrington High School girls' cross-country team runs to a 40-point margin of victory over La Salle to take RIIL championship; field hockey team plays for state title today in Bristol.
Barrington High School's girls' cross-county team took the RI state title Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4, at Ponaganset High School in Glocester. Now it's the field hockey team's chance today, Nov. 5, at Roger Williams University.
Individual champion Emma McMillan led the girls' cross-country team's successful defense of its state team title. The team rolled to a 40-point margin of victory over runner-up La Salle Academcy, according to the Providence Journal. Barrington captured 5 of the top 11 spots with McMillan leading the way.
The field hockey team will play against Moses Brown at 7:30 pm at the Bristol university. Barrington won the Division 1 Northern Division and has a 14-1-2 overall record after a win over Lincoln School on Saturday. Moses Brown won the Division 1 South Division and is undefeated at 14-0-1.
The girls soccer team also plays today. The squad will travel to Curtis Corner Middle School to take on South Kingstown in a quarterfinal match at 6 pm. The Eagles are 7-3-5 on the season; South Kingstown is 10-2-4.
The boys undefeated soccer team will play Tuesday, Nov. 6, in a semifinal match against Portsmouth at Cranston Stadium. It start at 5 pm. Barrington is 11-0-5 on the season after a won over Tolman on Saturday; Portsmouth is 9-4-2.

On the junior varsity level, Barrington dropped its first match of the year in the state championship game last Friday, Nov. 2. East Greenwich came to Barrington and walked out of the gym with a 3-1 win.
