Body Recovered: Brickyard Pond

BARRINGTON, RI — A body was recovered Sunday in Brickyard Pond. According to Barrington Fire Department Capt. Jason Fanion, the fire department was called around 10 a.m. Sunday. "Personal effects" had been found behind the YMCA and led to suspicions someone was in the water. A search was launched.

Then fishermen reported seeing a body under water, and firefighters were able to make the recovery. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The state medical examiner's office was called.

The name of the victim is not being released pending family notification. The person is an adult, but no other information is being made public.

Capt. Fanion said he believes police are investigating.
