Borelli's Bakery to Open Next Friday

Owner Carmine Borelli to open his third location on the corner of Washington Road and Bay Spring Avenue in Barrington.

Borelli’s Bakery opens in Barrington’s Bay Spring neighborhood next Friday morning, Jan. 27.

Owner Carmine Borelli received his victualing license from the Town Council at a special meeting on Wednesday night, Jan. 18.

He ordered his supplies and began finishing the renovations to the store on the corner of Washington Road and Bay Spring Avenue Thursday morning. Signs have been on the windows for weeks.

The location is the former Left of Center Deli at 191 Washington Road. The store has been vacant for months.

“I’m not doing any baking here,” said Borelli. “We’re doing that in Providence and bringing it here every morning.”

Borelli has three locations now, including the signature store at 805 Charles St. in Providence and the former DeFusco Bakery in Johnston. He plans to open a fourth location in Wickford.

“But I want to get this one up and running first,” he said of the Barrington location.

That includes hiring local workers and training them to staff the store, Borelli said.

“I want to hire local,” he said.

Two young women from that neighborhood have already approached him about jobs, he said. His daughter will run the place for him.

“I think we’ll do well here,” he said. “I think people will like all of our homemade products.”

Borelli’s will offer pizzas, calzones, and spinach pies among the birthday cakes, pastries, Italian cookies, artisan breads, biscuits, cream pies, and turnovers that are a staple of all his bakeries. You’ll be able to get a cup of coffee and a muffin as well, he said.

Parking for the store is in a lot that services all the stores in that building and street-side on Washington Road.

“There was a deli here before,” he said. “There was plenty of parking then.”

Borelli plans to be open from 7 am to around 6 pm Monday through Saturday and 7 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
