BHS Baseball Wins Thrilling Opener

Eagles pull out a win in dramatic fashion.

The day hasĀ finally arrived, opening day for the Barrington Eagles varsity baseball team. It was a perfect day for it, and it would be the perfect way to start out the season as the Eagles beat the North Kingstown SkippersĀ 3-2.

Matt Ferdenzi scoredĀ theĀ Eagles first run in the first inning putting them up 1-0 early. The game would be scoreless until the top of the sixth inning where North Kingstown scoredĀ two runs making the score 2-1.Ā Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Brett Fay layedĀ down a buntĀ andĀ got on first base. The nextĀ three batters were then walked and with the bases loaded with no outs, the North Kingstown pitcher let one get away from him and Nathan Bannon scored on the misque,Ā resulting in theĀ victory.

"It was a great way to open the seasonĀ for us.Ā Our defense played really well and it was just a great team effort"Ā senior catcher Tyler Thomas stated.
