What's YOUR Mommy Story?

Could YOUR story of silly mommy insanity be in my next book?

I was honored to co-host a unique book signing event recently with my mommy friend, Diane Stratton Ballou, at one of Barrington's most treasured gift shops, Hollies. If you missed it, it was all about Diane's gorgeous line of jewelry, Holly Smith's adorable gifts, whine, wine and of course, cheese. (Cheese dip recipes from my new gift book, How to Spread Sanity on a Cracker, to be exact.) Thank you again to those who stopped by - it was wonderful seeing you! And thank you for hosting, Holly! As we sipped wine, swapped stories and spread sanity on a few too many crackers, it got me thinking. Although a few local moms shared their stories in my new book, I know there are more women with funny stories to tell right here in Barrington. I'm in the midst of writing my second book and I have a feeling YOUR story of mommy insanity could be next.

From finding a bleeping red crayon in the white wash to spit up on your only decent post-pregnancy blouse, I’ve been there. I feel your pain. Regardless of the ages of our children, there is a universal understanding when we hear the not-to-be-taken-seriously term, β€œmommy insanity”. (Along with a shameless sense of satisfaction when we hear tales of motherhood-driven β€œinsanity” from other moms.).Well, Barrington moms, I want to hear from you! It’s YOUR turn to share YOUR funny story. I invite you to send in YOUR STORY. YOUR WHINE. YOUR VENT. Do you have a mommy whine that you’d love to see in print? I will be selecting stories for my next book. YOUR story could be featured! Write to me today at jackie@ventingsessions.com. Please include MOMMY INSANITY in the subject line. Please, no entries over 1,000 words. (The shorter, the wittier, the better.) Think back to an experience that you’ll NEVER forget. Something that makes you laugh today. Something that can help other moms feel a little less insane. Send in your story and enter to win a signed copy of my book, How to Spread Sanity on a Cracker. Winners will be chosen and announced here and on my blog, www.ventingsessions.com! Please make sure to include your name, street address and phone number. Anonymous entries will not be accepted, but I can change names (if you prefer) if your story is selected for my next book. The deadline for entries is June 10 at 5 p.m. Good luck!
