'Brad Faxon Day' Held for Kids
Barrington pro golfer hosts a day of fun and learning for 90 children at Button Hole Golf Course
Brad Faxon, Barrington's professional golfer, hosted a “day” that bore his name on Friday at Button Hole Golf Course on the Johnston/Providence line.
About 90 children from around New England attended Brad Faxon Day at the golf center. They took part in one-on-one lessons from golf professionals, including Faxon; fitness and exercise programs, and health-related instruction.
Faxon, who serves as an honorary co-chairman of Button Hole along with Bristol pro golfer Billy Andrade, said about 85 percent of the kids are from urban and inner-city areas.

"They're outside in the fresh air, and when you're from the city, it's a pretty nice place to come," Faxon said.
Faxon also said the purpose of the day is to teach kids lessons that transcend the golf course.

"Kids come out here to play golf, but they also learn a lot of stuff," he explained. "They learn about the rules of golf and they also learn a lot about etiquette, which is about treating people nicely."
