Bring Back Our Girls Campaign - Go Speak Out, Rhode Island

Unless you live in a media-free zone, you have probably heard about the Nigerian kidnappings.  Over 200 school girls in Nigeria have been kidnapped by militant extremists, who plan to sell the girls, basically as slaves, for the equivalent of $12 each.

Go Au Pair Providence offers its positive thoughts and prayers. Please keep these girls, their families, and even their captors in your prayers today. In America, we value education, but take it for granted. These young ladies are on their way to successful futures as doctors and nurses, teachers and engineers. Whoever would terrorize young people need to be brought to justice. Let us not forget the lessons of the past!

Speak up and be heard! Human rights are being violated every day. We cannot pretend to value human rights one day and ignore horrific violations the next! Go be heard! Go get active! Go speak out!

Even if you don't know anyone from Nigeria, you and I cannot tolerate this treatment! No matter your background or cultural heritage, this behavior is unacceptable! What will the Nigerian and other governments do to stop these evil rebels?

As an educator and au pair agency representative, I am appalled at today's news. Young people all over the globe should be able to get an education without fear or anxiety! Imagine your child going to school, being kidnapped, and sold into slavery to men from another country! We must speak up and act today!

The US Department of State oversees the Au Pair Program, and Go Au Pair sponsors your au pair's J-1 Visa. We host hundreds of au pairs from over 50 countries and we aim to share cultural experiences with people all over the globe. Speaking for our au pairs from around the world, they are horrified and disgusted by this news! Let's all pray for a peaceful end to this drama!

Let us not forget these young ladies as they are going through a most horrible experience! I am your Local Area Representative for Go Au Pair in the RI area. My name is Joan Lowell and I can be reached at 401.309.1925 or jlowell@goaupair.com.
