Churches Celebrate Birth of Christ

Barrington churches will celebrate Christmas with candlelight, carols and worship.

Barrington churches offer traditional, family services with carols, special readings and plenty of candlelight on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Here are the special services planned for Christmas Eve at Barrington's churches.

Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Pastor Paul Martins. Christmas Eve: 5 pm family service; 7 pm traditional service with lessons and carols.

, 461 County Road, The Rev. Dr. Jeff Larsen and the Rev. Elizabeth Barnum. Christmas Eve: 5 pm service of carols and story especially for children; 10 pm service of readings and carols, with vocal and bell choirs.

Barrington Presbyterian Church, 400 County Road, the Rev. Patrick Notley. Christmas Eve: 7 pm service of lessons and carols by candlelight, with anthems by adult and child choirs.

Barrington United Methodist Church, 230 Washington Road, the Rev. Byungmoo Lee. Christmas Eve: 4:30 pm service on Christmas Eve.

Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave. The Rev. Raymond Ferrick. A choral concert at 4 pm precedes a Christmas Eve Vigil Mass at 5 pm; Christmas day Masses are at 8 and 10:30 am.

St. Jame's Lutheran Church, 49 Middle Highway, the Rev. Andrew Simon. Christmas Eve: 4:30 pm family service; 11 pm candlelight service with carols.

St. John's Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, the Rev. Robert K. Marshall. Christms Eve:  Noon Holy Eucharist; 4 pm children's pageant and Holy Eucharist. 7 pm and 10 pm. Christmas Day: 10 am Holy Eucharist.

St. Luke's Church, 108 Washington Road, the Rev. Robert E. Hawkins. Christmas Eve: 4 pm service with contemporary choir; 6 pm children's Mass; 10 pm Mass with the adult choir. Christmas Day: Masses at 7, 8:30 and 10 am.

St. Matthew and Mark Episcopal Church, 5 Chapel Road, the Rev. Stephanie Shoemaker. Christmas Eve: 5 pm children's pageant and Holy Eucharist; 7 pm choral Holy Eucharist with carols.
