Designer-Wanna-Be Eyes Runway

Amelia Noyes, a 2002 Barrington High School graduate, created a design that has been chosen for a prestigious high-fashion competition; she'd love your vote.

A dress design created by a Barrington High School graduate has been selected for a prestigious high-fashion competition.

The design was drawn by Amelia Noyes, a 2002 alumnus who is back home this weekend visiting her parents, Bill and Colleen Noyes. She lives in Chicago where she works for a TV production company.

“Since the fifth grade,” Noyes said, “I’ve doodled clothes. It’s been a hobby that I’ve been cultivating for quite a while.”

“I was inspired as a child by fashion and art and have been illustrating my own designs ever since,” she said.

The competition is the Adrianna Pappell for E! Live From The Red Carpet design contest. Entries are being voted on by going to the Adrianna Pappell page on Facebook, said Noyes.

“I’d love your vote,” she said.

Noyes would love your vote because, while she loves her day job, she would love to make a career in drawing designs and selling them to the fashion industry. Right now, it’s still more of a hobby, she said. TV production pays the bills.

Getting into the Top 25 in votes means her design would go before a judging panel from Adrianna Pappell. The panel will select the top five designs. Those designs would be produced. The winner will be revealed on the air at E!.

Noyes said: “I come from a creative family.” One of her sisters is a singer studying now at a Los Angeles performance school. Her other sister is marketing her own line of jewelry.

Noyes earned a B.A. degree in communications from Regis College in Denver after leaving Barrington. She is almost done with a master’s degree in New Media Studies at DePaul University after taking classes at The School of the Arts Institute of Chicago.

Noyes also finds time to write a fashion blog, A Chic Direction. You can view her portfolio by clicking here.
