Free Cultural Events All Summer!

Have you heard of the Highland Street Foundation? They are sponsoring Free Fun Fridays at 66 museums and cultural venues this summer! Need to make inexpensive plans for the kids? Here you go! Plan some trips to nearby Massachusetts. Perhaps your au pair needs some suggestions to keep the kids busy and looking forward to Fridays. Check out their awesome schedule, and plan a Mystery Ride every Friday this summer!

Since it was established in 1989, the Highland Street Foundation, dedicated to children and families in both California and Massachusetts, has donated over $135 million to a variety of non-profit organizations. Their main focus is on providing access and opportunities in areas such as education, housing, healthcare, even mentorship, the arts and environmental issues.

This summer, one of their many worthy programs includes free admission to 66 different venues! Today, for example, you have many options, depending on your interests and time schedule. This is a great resource! For today, June 27th, your choices are as follows:

Franklin Park Zoo, Dorchester, MA 10am-3:30pm
Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA 11am-5pm
Cape Cod Maritime Museum, Hyannis, MA 10am-4pm
Tanglewood, Lenox, MA 1pm-6pm
The Sports Museum, Boston, MA 10am-4pm
MIT Museum, Cambridge, MA 10am-5pm
MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA 10am-7pm

What are you waiting for? Pack up the kids and the car and get going! I love to take the kids on what I call "Mystery Rides" to surprise locations. We sing songs on the way and I let the kids ask me yes/no questions about our destination. They always ask stuff like, have we been there before, is it public, is it outdoors, are we meeting people, do we know them? It is so much fun. You should choose a destination and try a Mystery Ride with your family.

If you can't make it today, why not check out their entire schedule for the summer, pick a Friday you can do it, and have a great time! Please message me and let me know if you go...my kids have been to MASS MoCA with my mom, who lives in the Berkshires, and they loved it!

As always, contact me, your Go Au Pair LAR in the Providence area. I am Joan Lowell; reach me at 401.309.1925 or jlowell@goaupair.com with your comments or questions.
