Hampden Meadows House Burglarized, Rooms Ransacked

Theft from locker room at Barrington High School also reported to police.

Barrington police are continuing an investigation into the burglary of a home in Hampden Meadows on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Police said the owner of the property at 47 Lamson Road, Seth Fisher, returned home about 9:50 pm to find that the house was broken into and a bedroom and an office ransacked.

Fisher reported that a small safe, several pieces of jewelry, and a laptop computer were among the items missing. Police did not estimate the value of the items taken in the burglary. It also is not known what was stored in the safe.

Police checked the area surrounding the property after responding to the scene. A police officer found nothing suspicious. 

Theft reported at high school

 Barrington police received a report on Friday, Feb. 4, of a larceny at the high school.

Police said the wrestling coach reported that $20 in cash and two checks worth $20 were stolen from an unlocked locker in the coaches locker room, which is locked.

The money was proceeds from a raffle held for the benefit of the Rhode Island Wrestling Coaches Association, police said.

Suspended license charge made

A Warren woman was charged by Barrington police on Friday, Feb. 4, with driving with a suspended license.

Gretchen E. Prosl, 47, of 47 Lyndon St., was driving southbound on Sowams Road near Zompa Road around 1:35 am when a patrolman noticed that her vehicle had a headlight out – an equipment violation.

She was issued a summons after police ran a check with the motor vehicle department.

Car abandoned in snow bank

 Barrington police responded to a report early Saturday morning, Feb. 5, of a vehicle abandoned in a snow bank on Albert Avenue.

Police found the vehicle without an operator. A check of the license plate found the owner lived on Hancock Road. He said his daughter, 19, had been operating the vehicle when it left the roadway.

She was issued a summons for a roadway violation and leaving the scene of the accident, police said.

Window at Democratic Club broken

 A window at the Democratic Club at 186 Roffee Street was reported broken on Sunday morning, Feb. 6.

Police said the broken window was reported as vandalism. The call came in at 8:53 am. 

Pickup truck reported vandalized

Barrington police received a report early Monday morning, Feb. 7, of a pickup truck on Bay Spring Avenue that appeared to be vandalized overnight.

Police said the truck’s owner reported a long scratch that ran from the bed of the truck to the front fender. The call came in at 8:41 am.
