Obituary: Audrey Mason, 88

Audrey H. Mason of Melrose Avenue in Barrington passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren. She was 88.

Born in Randolph, Mass., she was daughter to the late Arthur and Bertha (LaJoi) Hayden. She was the wife of the late Frederick Mason, Jr.

She was a graduate of Nantucket High School and former member of the Barrington Yacht Club. Audrey loved her home, her garden, watercolor painting, photograghy, and a lively game of cards; however, the principal focus of her life was the care of her disabled daughter Abby.

She leaves three daughters, Laura M. Mason of Braintree, Mass.; Audrey “Betsy” M. Schmitt of Archbold, Ohio; and Abby H. Mason of Barrington. She also leaves behind three grandchildren – James C. Miller of Westerville, Ohio; Marsha L. Ackerman of Anchorage, Alaska; and Caroline R. Hancock of Archbold, Ohio, and three great grandchildren, Jackson L. and Mason D. Ackerman, and Emmaline R. Hancock.

The funeral service and burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Swan Point Cemetery Chapel at 585 Blackstone Boulevard in Providence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the RI Association for Retarded Citizens, 109 Sherwood St., Providence, 02908 would be appreciated.
