Where can you buy a brand new three-bedroom home in Barrington for $169,000 or $210,000?

The answer is Walker Fam Lane, Barrington's affordable housing development on County Road near Hundred Acre Cove just north of Eleanor Drive.

West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation of Providence is selling the homes for Barrington. There are one-floor and two-floor homes, each with "energy-star rated appliances," said Jared Rhodes, deputy director of West Elmwood.

Each home has about 1,200 square feet of living space without counting the full basement, Rhode said. They have forced hot air high-efficiency heating powered by natural gas. Because each home is so "green," he said, heating bills should be far less than most Barrington homes built in the 1950s and 1960s.
