Pizzico Moving Into Barrington

The well-known Pizzico Ristorante on the East Side of Providence is replacing Chiazza Trattoria & Bar on County Road.

Chiazza Trattoria & Bar in Barrington will soon become Ristorante Pizzico East Bay.Β

The well-known Hope Street restaurant in Providence plans to open in Chiazza's spot on County Road on Monday, March 11, said Jim Harris, a partner in Pizzico with Daniel Teodoro.

β€œI never thought I’d open another restaurant,” said Harris, who opened Pizzico 22 years ago. β€œIt was a unique opportunity. It was a no-brainer to do it. It was just too good to pass up.”

Harris said everything is a β€œdone deal” except the transfer of the liquor license by the Town Council. The transfer is expected to take place at the March 4 meeting.

Harris said he is well aware of Chiazza’s reputation as a bar. But β€œwe will be a restaurant first and a bar second,” he said.

β€œThe menu will be duplicating what we do in Providence,” he said. β€œWe’re really looking forward to bringing what we do there to Barrington.”

That includes a wine list he said has been nominated for β€œbest wine list” by the Providence Phoenix magazine.Β

Before Pizzico opens, he said: β€œWe’ll be doing a pretty good facelift inside. And putting up a new sign outside. We’ve got it all planned out.”

Chiazza will close March 4; a week later, the eatery will reopen as Pizzico East Bay.Β

β€œIt’s pretty exciting,” said Harris. β€œWe hope to do the facelift in one week.”

The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner, he said, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, for lunch, and 7 days a week for dinner.

The restaurant also will serve as another home for Decadent Catering, Pizzico’s catering business. It will expand here to do weddings, bar mitzvahs and other functions.
